There's no other feeling when you see the grandeur of the Himalayas from Shangarh. And this was the start of our week long journey through the Great Himalayan Ranges.
Embarking on a thrilling journey from Pune to Delhi, our travel expedition took us through breathtaking landscapes, charming towns, and the majestic Himalayas.
From exploring Chandigarh to immersing ourselves in the tranquil beauty of Shangarh in Sainj Valley, our trip was filled with unforgettable experiences, delicious local cuisine, and unexpected surprises. Join us as we recount our incredible adventure, brimming with scenic vistas, exhilarating treks, and cherished memories.
Day 1: Pune to Delhi - A Promising Start
On the morning of May 27th, our travel odyssey began with an early flight from Pune to Delhi. With excitement in the air, we boarded the flight at 10:50 am and eagerly anticipated the adventures that lay ahead. After a pleasant journey, we touched down in Delhi around 1 pm. Following a delectable lunch at the airport, we hopped into a taxi and set off on a scenic drive to our first destination - Chandigarh.
Day 2: Chandigarh to Shangarh - Exploring the Enchanting Valley
Leaving behind the bustling city, we embarked on a picturesque journey from Chandigarh to Shangarh in the mesmerizing Sainj Valley.
We reached Shangarh at checked-in at the Zostel.
Our cozy abode for the next two nights was the Zostel in Shangarh, nestled amidst the tranquil surroundings.
Day 3: Tranquility and Rain in Shangarh
The day dawned with heavy rains, enveloping the valley in a mystical ambiance. Undeterred by the weather, we set out on an adventurous trek to the enchanting Shangarh waterfall, a scenic walk spanning around 8 kilometers. As we made our way back, fate had a delightful surprise in store for us. We chanced upon a friendly truck driver who offered us a bumpy, yet thrilling ride back to our accommodation. Along the way, we savored the flavors of the region, indulging in the local delicacy of Siddhu, a dish made of walnut.
Day 4: Jibhi and the Balo Temple Trek
Continuing our journey, we bid farewell to Shangarh and ventured towards Jibhi, a picturesque town known for its natural beauty. Our first stop was the revered Balo Temple, a place of spiritual significance. To reach the temple, we embarked on an invigorating 8-kilometer trek, immersing ourselves in the tranquility of the surroundings and reveling in the panoramic vistas that unfolded.
Day 5: Serolsar Lake and the Majestic Himalayas
As we set forth from Jibhi, our path led us to the stunning Serolsar Lake, a hidden gem nestled amidst the Himalayan peaks. The placid waters mirrored the majestic landscape, casting a spell of serenity upon us. With the Himalayas as our backdrop, we marveled at nature's magnificence and relished every moment spent in this idyllic setting.
Day 6: Bhuntar Adventure and Heavenly Hillside Cottages
On the 31st of May, we embarked on an adrenaline-pumping adventure in Bhuntar - white water rafting. This thrilling experience filled our day with joy and laughter, as we navigated the gushing rapids and embraced the rush of the river. As evening approached, we retreated to the Heavenly Hillside Cottages near Kullu, a tranquil haven that offered respite and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills.
Day 7: Exploring Chandigarh's Gardens and Wildlife
Returning to Chandigarh on June 1st, we took a leisurely stroll through the renowned Rose Garden, where nature's vibrant hues delighted our senses. Next, we visited the bird park, immersing ourselves in the melodious symphony of avian residents. Captivated by the diverse flora and fauna, we marveled at the interconnectedness of life.
Day 8: The Grand Finale - Delhi Delights and the Journey Home
On June 2nd, bidding adieu to Chandigarh, we embarked on our journey back to Delhi. A visit to Connaught Place and the iconic Ambience Mall in Vasant Kunj offered a glimpse into the vibrant soul of the capital city. As the day drew to a close, we caught a late-night flight back to Pune. However, unforeseen delays caused our SpiceJet flight to be postponed by four hours, testing our patience. Nonetheless, on the morning of June 3rd, we finally reached Pune, exhausted yet filled with a sense of accomplishment and an array of cherished memories.
